When I have been contacted by a client explaining their specification, I will write up a proposal explaining in detail the options and services that are
available within the clients budget.
After the client has selected an option and initial down payment has been paid, I will then start the project.
I start off by analysing the content and media that the client wants to have on their site, taking search engine optimisation, accessibility and
ease of use into consideration.
I then start producing draft designs and concepts on paper to see what the site could look like adding colours,
icons, fonts and images. With clean structures before reaching the final design always valuing the content and study of navigability.
After reaching
a final draft design and client approval, I start to build a working template in a test area that the client can view.
Once the client is
happy with the result, I will then continue to develop the rest of the site applying advanced programming techniques respecting aspects of functionality
and accessibility, always thinking of the final project.
Once the website is complete and after passing rigorous quality control testing and
final client approval, the website is then ready to be launched publicly.
I’m Christopher Hill a freelance web designer and front-end developer situated in Great Yarmouth. My career in web design started
over 5 years ago when I first designed a website for the company I worked for.
Previously from an Electronic and Electrical Engineering
background, I easily picked up HTML, CSS, JavaSript and PHP languages switching electronic logic gates for if, else statements and replaced circuits
with JavaScript functions. After 2 years learning the different web languages and understanding the UK accessibility acts, I took my knowledge
to the next step and started to design websites for clients.
Since then I have designed websites for a variety of different clients from Criminal Solicitors to Industrial Electronics. I do not use
off the shelf templates as I produce custom designed websites to suit every requirement set by a client.
The websites I create are designed to include any
content or media that the client requires without any restrictions. Designing a website from scratch allows me to create a themed site that
matches your brand or corporate identity.
When building a website, technology must never become an obstacle to communication, starting with a thorough analysis, I build websites that are both innovative and intuitive, searching for the right balance between advanced technology and ease of use. But above all, I design websites because it is my passion.
My knowledge covers a wide range of web languages which includes (X)HTML, CSS, PHP & MYSQL, JavaScript, jQuery, mooTools and more. I have a good understanding of what is required to meet the highest levels of accessibility and websites designed are always written to latest W3C standards ensuring that the web site source code is clean of errors.
Rather than using programs like Adobe Dreamweaver to create the web pages, I use a text editor to write it by hand. This reduces the amount of code used and makes pages load faster. I also have experience with the Industry Standard Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Flash and Adobe Illustrator allowing me to create eye catching animations and corporate logos that will enhance your users experience.
